our mission

Katasa’s mission is to design and build innovative living spaces

our missionThe Katasa Group, formed in the 1980s, decided in 2014 to concentrate its activities on the development and management of senior housing apartments. Its mission is to design and build innovative living spaces that allow seniors to maintain their lifestyle and independence without compromise.

Thus, the facilities are designed according to the needs and expectations of the clientele. The architectural elements are carefully chosen to respect the regional particularities, thus accentuating each Katasa residence’s uniqueness.

“We develop and manage multi-service residences for seniors where you feel at home, skillfully combining know-how, attention to detail, comfort, and a personalized approach. We want to ensure the well-being of our senior residents by providing them with a stimulating and safe living environment, and by offering them high-quality services and care”, said Katherine Chowieri, who is responsible for the planning of the new project design, marketing, and finances for Groupe Katasa.

As part of this corporate mission, Katasa Group also offers its employees a harmonious, respectful, and motivating work an environment that fosters a sense of belonging and encourages teamwork.

Noteworthy, the expression Giving back to the next takes on its full meaning and is part of Katasa’s DNA. The Chowieri family has always been deeply involved in its community and continues to support the causes that contribute to its fellow citizens’ well-being.

A promising future for Katasa Group

a promising futureSince 2014, Katasa focuses its business on the development and management of seven private retirement complexes.

The Katasa Group is also present in other spheres of the economy by managing five commercial rental buildings, two residential rental buildings, including a university residence, a mobile home rental park, and three lots in the planning stage for future residential development.

And the future looks promising as five more projects – Clemow, Somerset, Kent, Merivale, and Bronson – are underway in Ontario and Katasa is always on the lookout for new business opportunities.

“We want to increase our leadership in real estate by creating residential complexes that offer not only housing but a way of living. We are already asserting our presence in Quebec in the Outaouais region and the cities of Dorval, Pierrefonds, Granby, and Sorel-Tracy, and Ottawa in Ontario,” said the founder of Katasa, Sam Chowieri, more than 30 years ago.

As a leading entrepreneur, he has always surrounded himself with a strong and competent team that shares his vision of the company. And he doesn’t have to worry about the next generation because, since 2014, his daughters Katherine, Tanya, and Samantha Chowieri are active partners of the Katasa Group & Development and hold key positions.

“Our success is based first and foremost on the great work of a team of seasoned professionals. People with a strong heart I am particularly proud of,” concludes Mr. Chowieri.

Sharing the values of Katasa Group

mp katasa valuesThe Katasa Group puts forward their values of sharing in everything they undertake, and they want each senior resident to feel that they are part of the big family formed with the staff.

“Our corporate culture has been built and lays on the values that define and guide how we operate,” said Katherine Chowieri, responsible for planning, marketing, and finance at the Katasa Group.

The company’s values are spread into six categories. First, there is the family spirit that all our clients, residents, and staff are treated like family members. A pleasant environment is created so that everyone feels good. Second, it is transparency in all dealings with our staff, our customers and with each other, the owners.

Respect is also valued among our employees, customers, and owners. Then, passion contributes to creating an improved customer experience that strives to surpass itself, inspire enthusiasm for work, and stimulate innovation.

Loyalty to our customers and staff then creates an environment that encourages our employees and customers to remain loyal to our company. Finally, we encourage all aspects of diversity, the contribution of a diversity of opinions, perspectives, cultures and approaches, more diverse thinking, and open communication.

KATASA stands for Katherine, Tanya and Samantha Chowieri!

It was in the 1980s that the Katasa Group took shape. The name of the company, chosen by its founder, Sam Chowieri, is made up of the first two letters of his daughters who, today, are Katasa Group’s managers: KAtherine, TAnya and SAmantha!

From an early age, the three sisters were actively involved in the family business, whether it was accompanying their father on his visits to the Résidence de l’Île, sharing the traditional Christmas dinner with the residents, serving at the tables, or playing the role of messengers. In the summer, they spent a lot of time at the residence: nothing better to learn the ropes of the trade!

In 2009, they joined the family business as managers, thereby strengthening Katasa’s expertise. Katherine is responsible for planning, marketing, and finance, Tanya oversees new acquisitions, new projects, and commissioning of new buildings and renovations, and Samantha manages retirement residences and all real estate properties.

“We treat our tenants, our residents, and staff like family members by creating a pleasant environment where everyone feels good. Passion helps to create a superior customer experience, to surpass oneself, to get excited about work, and to drive innovation,” explains Tanya Chowieri.

a daring bet for Sam Chowieri

A daring bet for Sam Chowieri of the Katasa Group!

a daring bet for Sam ChowieriBusinessman Sam Chowieri was already a seasoned professional in residential real estate development when he decided, more than 30 years ago, to venture into the construction of retirement residences under the Katasa Group.

A daring bet at the time! But he saw a need for this type of property and embarked on one of his boldest projects by purchasing a disused church in downtown Hull to convert it into a comfortable and warm retirement residence.

The Résidence de l’Île thus became the flagship of the Katasa Group. A success that has enabled the Group to experience phenomenal growth, particularly with the acquisition and development of new residences for retirees across Quebec and even Ontario.

Since 2014, Katasa focuses its business on the development and management of retirement complexes. Their mission is to develop and manage commercial and residential rental buildings focused on the needs and well-being of their tenants, as well as multi-service residences for pensioners who feel at home, skillfully combining know-how, attention to detail, comfort, and a personalized approach.

Today, Katasa includes five commercial rental buildings, two residential rental buildings, a mobile home rental park (Riviera), and seven private retirement complexes. Several expansion projects are also under consideration. A beautiful success signed by Sam Chowieri and the Katasa Group!
